The Kit Carson County Carousel is one of 74 carousels created by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company. It was built in 1905, making it over 100 years old! This moving work of art has an entire menagerie of animals to ride. Take a spin yourself for just 25 cents and then visit the Carousel museum for a $1 admission fee.
This historical town is more than just a museum. There are can-can shows, gun fights, an Emporium featuring local wares, an ice cream parlor, a Wild West Dinner Theater, and more. This is a great place to learn about and experience the history of Colorado’s eastern plains.

One of the biggest events of the year in Burlington is the Kit Carson County Fair and Rodeo. Come out the last week of July or the first week of August to see livestock shows, local arts and crafts, exhibits, and the historical Kit Carson County Carousel.
Local Birding Trails
There are several locations nearby for birding. Burlington itself is a site along the Playa birding trail. Check it out on the Eastern Colorado Birding Trails website. You'll also find other good places to explore and a list of birds that you’re likely to see. Chances are that you'll even see and hear birds in the Cedar trees at our Park.
